2008 South Bend School Board, At-Large
Voter Information Center

Four of the seven seats, including both at-large positions, on the South Bend Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees are up for election on November 4. This page provides information for voters looking to make an informed decision in this important race.

A message from Kyle Chamberlin:

While hosted on my campaign website, the "Voter Information Center" page was created to provide concerned citizens with an objective overview of the election. Many voters have come to me with procedural questions about the school board race, and this space is designed to give everyone the opportunity to make an informed decision. Thank you for your interest in this important election.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can vote?

All residents (age eighteen and over) of the SBCSC, a district that expands outside South Bend municipal lines, are eligible to vote for the school board. See this map from the school corporation to determine if you reside within its boundaries.

How are the winners determined?

The two candidates receiving the most votes on November 4th will be declared the winners; there is no runoff.

How do I vote?

The school board race can be found near the bottom of the general election ballot. Residents of Districts 3 and 4 will also have the opportunity to vote for a district representative; these are separate positions. Voting a straight-party ticket does not cast a vote in the school board election. If you choose this option, be sure to turn over your ballot and vote separately for school trustees. You may vote for up to two candidates in the at-large election (your vote will still count even if you only choose one candidate).
