Lifelong resident
Kyle was born in St. Joseph County and has resided here his entire life. "Many of my college friends have since moved to big cities. Frankly, I do not envy them one bit," he confides. Kyle appreciates the genuine quality of people here in the Midwest. "Everytime I travel away from Indiana, I am excited to see new places. But after a few days I inevitably find that I'm ready to go home. This area really is the perfect fit for me."

Education
A graduate of Mishawaka High School, Kyle's education was shaped by his thirteen years as a student in public schools. In 2006 he received a B.B.A in Marketing from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. "One of the most fortunate things that ever happened to me was receiving a generous grant that allowed me to attend Notre Dame," shares Kyle. "College not only taught me a great deal about myself, but it also opened doors to the world around me. Whenever an opportunity arises as a result of my time at Notre Dame, I try to remind myself how blessed I am." Kyle is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at Notre Dame Law School.

Family
Kyle grew up surrounded by teachers. His mother, Kim, has been an elementary teacher in the Mishawaka public schools for nearly 30 years; she currently teaches fourth grade. Kyle's father, Ed, was named district-wide Teacher of the Year for School City of Mishawaka in 2005. A long-time English and Communications instructor at Mishawaka High School, he teaches courses pioneered by Kyle's grandfather. Kyle's brother Kaleb is a senior at Mishawaka High School and provides a valuable link to today's students.

"Education has always been, and continues to be, a priority in my family," says Kyle. "Even those in my family who were not teachers by profession always stressed the power of learning. My most vivid childhood memories of time spent at my grandparents' house involve reading books and practicing spelling words."

Not only did Kyle's family teach him how to better himself through education, they also considered their profession a calling to help others. "My parents are true public servants," explains Kyle. "They could use their considerable talents to make far more money in any number of ventures, but after all these years they are still going to school early in the morning and grading papers late into the night." With dedicated educators filling Kyle's life, it is easy to see why he is ready to give back.
